Maluma, DNCE, Nacho, and others set for 'Premios Juventud' 2017

Univision’s 2017 “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards) is less than a week away. Some of today’s favorite artists are already on their way to Miami for rehearsals. This year the Latin music award show is set to be televised live as usual on Univision  Thursday, July 6, starting with celebrity arrivals at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. CT).

It will be hosted by Univision’s top youth personalities Alejandra Espinoza who just finished off her amazing role as host for the first “Reina de la Cancion”. She will be joined by fellow Danilo Carillo, and musicians Leslie Grace, Jesse & Joy, and Chyno (Chino). Besides focusing entirely on music this year, “Premios Juventud” will also address the bicultural young Latino audience with presentations by DNCE and Iggy Azalea.

As for the Latin entertainers so far scheduled are J Balvin, Gente de Zona, Zion y Lennox, Maluma, Bad Boy, De La Ghetto, Ozuna, Farruko, Chyno, Ulices Chaidez y sus Plebes, Wisin, Calibre 50, Nacho, and Jacob Forever. It will be mainly a night of urban music with a Mexican tune here and there.

SESAC Latina Music Awards awarded the best in the Latin music industry

The SESAC Latina Music Awards 2017 celebrated another successful year at its annual gala held at the Beverly Hills Hotel. SESAC Latina, the most progressive music rights organization in the nation, and its songwriters and publishers had a record hit of 17 #1 songs on various Billboard charts in 2016.

Besides the award presentation, singer-songwriter and actor Jencarlos Canela performed his two awarded songs, “Baby” and “Pa’Que Me Invitan”, Panamanian singer-songwriter; Erika Ender performed a medley of “Ataúd” and “Despacito;” and La Séptima Banda performed a medley of their biggest hits.

Some of the 2017 SESAC Latin Music Award winners were:

• Songwriter of the Year – Luciano Luna, has won the award for the fourth year in a row
• Song of the Year - “Si No Es Contigo” written by Luciano Luna
• SESAC Latina Crossover Song of the Year - “Hasta El Amanecer” by Nicky Jam

Telemundo estrena la serie 'Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio'

Ahora le toca a Telemundo estrenar su serie basada en la verdadera historia de Jenni Rivera empezando el martes 27 de junio. La serie, "Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio", está protagonizada por Angélica Celaya, Samadhi Zendejas y Gabriel Porras.

La muy anticipada historia sigue los pasos de la gran estrella Jenni Rivera en la búsqueda de un sueño de fama; ofreciendo un recorrido autobiográfico desde su nacimiento hasta su inesperada y trágica muerte. La serie - basada en su libro "Inquebrantable", así como en testimonios inéditos de la propia familia, amigos y socios - y explorará su vida como hija, madre, esposa, amante y artista. Escrita por Rossana Negrin, "Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio", es una historia que resalta los sucesos más importantes de la vida de Jenni Rivera y sirve como fuente de inspiración, optimismo, y empoderamiento para la comunidad hispana de los Estados Unidos.

Jenni Rivera, además de ser una mujer altruista, fue una cantante, compositora, productora, empresaria y madre soltera de cinco hijos, cuya vida estuvo llena de dificultades y tragedia, pero siempre se esforzó por tener éxito para su familia. Fue amada y admirada por millones, por su fuerza y determinación y sobre todo por la honestidad que la caracterizaba. Vendió más de 20 millones de discos en mundialmente y recibió 22 Premios Billboard de la Música Latina, 11 Premios Billboard de la música mexicana y dos Premios Billboard de la Música. La lista se queda corta de tantos otros premios otorgados a la diva a lo largo de su carrera, y hasta hoy día Jenni Rivera no cesa de recibir nominaciones, reconocimientos, y premiaciones. Desafortunadamente, su vida culminó en un trágico accidente de avión el 9 de diciembre de 2012.
