Uforia Music Series kicks off with Bad Bunny live stream concert throughout New York

Bad Bunny performing in front of Harlem Hospital
Bad Bunny performing in front of Harlem Hospital

Univision’s Uforia, New York’s La X 96.3 FM and Bad Bunny took New York City by surprise on Sunday evening, with a historic livestream experience on a mobile stage in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month presented by Verizon. The Uforia live event marked the return of the Uforia Music Series which kicked off featuring a groundbreaking performance by the genre-defying global superstar. And even better it was live streamed for fans free of charge across the United States, Puerto Rico and internationally on both UforiaMusic.com and Bad Bunny’s YouTube.

Hosted by Univision New York correspondent Damaris Diaz and La X 96.3FM on-air sensations Brea Frank and Shino Aguakate, the concert began at Yankee Stadium and traveled across parts of the Bronx and Washington Heights before ending in front of Harlem Hospital. The 90 minute or so event culminated with a special finale for frontline workers in support of Verizon’s Feed the Frontlines effort, which has served over 80,000 meals to health workers since April.

Bad Bunny's appreciation and encouragement during trying times didn't go amiss as he stated, “My respects and thanks to those people who have sacrificed their lives, giving it all for the health of this city. With a lot of faith in God, I have hope that good things are coming. I know we are going through very difficult times, but I have hope that people doing things with their heart, spirit, faith and hope, we're going to move forward... Use this time to reflect, make changes...”

The artist sure put it off ducking at every traffic light, bridges, and tree branches while maintaining his balance in the moving mobile stage. The exclusive mobile stage set on top of a 'subway car' was transported by a truck designed especially for Bad Bunny's historical concert. Once it got dark out, the presence of bunnies illuminated the 'subway car'.

Featuring special virtual guest appearances by J Balvin, Sech and Mora, the livestream brought Bad Bunny fans all their favorite hits, including “Bye me Fui,” “Callaita,” “Te Boté” and “Yo Perreo Sola.”

In addition to honoring Hispanic Heritage Month and essential workers, the event also commemorated the third anniversary of Hurricane Maria making landfall in Bad Bunny’s native Puerto Rico.

“We are extremely excited to celebrate the richness of Latinx culture during Hispanic Heritage Month with this one-of-a-kind live streaming experience, and also commemorate the Puerto Rico community's resilience on the third anniversary of Hurricane Maria, in partnership with Verizon,” said Jesus Lara, President of Radio, Univision. “We are proud to showcase the artistry of Bad Bunny who has had such a profound impact on our culture and the music industry at large.”

Bad Bunny is proclaimed as one of the most popular artists in the world. The multi-platinum artist, winner of the Latin Grammy and nominated for the Grammy, constantly manages to break language and stereotype barriers around the globe, becoming an international culture and entertainment icon. Following the huge impact he has had on mass audiences, Bad Bunny became the first Latin reggaeton artist in history to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. He is also the second male personality to appear alone on the cover of Playboy magazine, after its founder, Hugh Hefner. His leadership within the reggaeton and trap genres has led him to dominate large stages during prominent music festivals and international concert tours.

His most recent album, Las que no Iban a Salir debuted #1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums, dethroning himself over his previous albums, with YHLQMDLG at #2 and X 100PRE at #3. Bad Bunny is one of the Latin artists with the most entries to the global Hot 100 list, with a total of 24 hits. In addition, with his album YHLQMDLG, he became the first Latino artist in history to achieve the position #2 on the global list Billboard 200. Each of Bad Bunny’s releases has left their forceful mark on the history of Latin music. His artistic power and leadership in the entertainment world demonstrate his character as one of the most impactful artists of the moment and reaffirm his expansive position in the music industry.
