Music mourns the loss of renown salsa artist Tito Rojas el gallo salsero

The music industry is mourning the loss of one of its salsa music classic artists, Julio Cesar Rojas Lopez, who is known in the entertainment world as el gallo salsero Tito Rojas. No, he doesn't sing like a gallo (rooster) but it's more so due to his imitation of a rooster during his performances. The Puerto Rican artist died at the age of 65 at a family residence in Humacao, Puerto Rico due to health complications.

Tito Rojas' passing was confirmed by the director of Criminal Investigations of Humacao, Teddy Morales in indicating that the call to the police was registered at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020. The cause of the artist death was due to health complications - a heart attack.

A police officer indicated Tito Rojas had just left from a family gathering at the Tejas neighborhood in Humacao.

“When the activity ended, he left for his residency, but a little while after leaving, he stopped at one of his cousin's house at the Mariana neighborhood and tells him he doesn't feel well,” Morales said. “He asks him to take him to the hospital. When they are about to get in the family member's vehicle, he collapsed,” he added. “A little while after the paramedics arrive and certify he died. There were no signs of violence, but everything seemed to be due to a health situation.”

Tito Rojas' followers were able to enjoy his last presentation on Christmas Eve, a virtual Christmas special titled “Canta Gallo canta” (sing rooster sing) that was transmitted on YouTube. “I want you to enjoy to the max this Christmas special that I prepared for all of you. Dale pa’ bajo,” he wrote. Dale pa’ bajo was a common phrase Tito used in his performances as well in which I'd translate as hit it downward.

Among all his recordings in his four decades as an artist - albums, singles..., Tito recorded his last album in 2019, Un gallo para la historia, that includes “Vivo feliz,” “Los años no pasan en vano” and “Maldito amor bendito amor,” among others.

After knowing of Tito Rojas death, the Mayor of Humacao, Luis Raul Sanchez Hernandez, declared five days of mourning and made available the Marcel Trujillo Coliseum to the family for the wake. “If something distinguished Tito Rojas in addition to his voice, it was his humility and commitment to the Humacaeña community,” said the municipal executive.

Uforia Music Series kicks off with Bad Bunny live stream concert throughout New York

Bad Bunny performing in front of Harlem Hospital

Univision’s Uforia, New York’s La X 96.3 FM and Bad Bunny took New York City by surprise on Sunday evening, with a historic livestream experience on a mobile stage in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month presented by Verizon. The Uforia live event marked the return of the Uforia Music Series which kicked off featuring a groundbreaking performance by the genre-defying global superstar. And even better it was live streamed for fans free of charge across the United States, Puerto Rico and internationally on both UforiaMusic.com and Bad Bunny’s YouTube.

Hosted by Univision New York correspondent Damaris Diaz and La X 96.3FM on-air sensations Brea Frank and Shino Aguakate, the concert began at Yankee Stadium and traveled across parts of the Bronx and Washington Heights before ending in front of Harlem Hospital. The 90 minute or so event culminated with a special finale for frontline workers in support of Verizon’s Feed the Frontlines effort, which has served over 80,000 meals to health workers since April.

Bad Bunny's appreciation and encouragement during trying times didn't go amiss as he stated, “My respects and thanks to those people who have sacrificed their lives, giving it all for the health of this city. With a lot of faith in God, I have hope that good things are coming. I know we are going through very difficult times, but I have hope that people doing things with their heart, spirit, faith and hope, we're going to move forward... Use this time to reflect, make changes...”

The artist sure put it off ducking at every traffic light, bridges, and tree branches while maintaining his balance in the moving mobile stage. The exclusive mobile stage set on top of a 'subway car' was transported by a truck designed especially for Bad Bunny's historical concert. Once it got dark out, the presence of bunnies illuminated the 'subway car'.

Featuring special virtual guest appearances by J Balvin, Sech and Mora, the livestream brought Bad Bunny fans all their favorite hits, including “Bye me Fui,” “Callaita,” “Te Boté” and “Yo Perreo Sola.”

In addition to honoring Hispanic Heritage Month and essential workers, the event also commemorated the third anniversary of Hurricane Maria making landfall in Bad Bunny’s native Puerto Rico.

“We are extremely excited to celebrate the richness of Latinx culture during Hispanic Heritage Month with this one-of-a-kind live streaming experience, and also commemorate the Puerto Rico community's resilience on the third anniversary of Hurricane Maria, in partnership with Verizon,” said Jesus Lara, President of Radio, Univision. “We are proud to showcase the artistry of Bad Bunny who has had such a profound impact on our culture and the music industry at large.”

Bad Bunny is proclaimed as one of the most popular artists in the world. The multi-platinum artist, winner of the Latin Grammy and nominated for the Grammy, constantly manages to break language and stereotype barriers around the globe, becoming an international culture and entertainment icon. Following the huge impact he has had on mass audiences, Bad Bunny became the first Latin reggaeton artist in history to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. He is also the second male personality to appear alone on the cover of Playboy magazine, after its founder, Hugh Hefner. His leadership within the reggaeton and trap genres has led him to dominate large stages during prominent music festivals and international concert tours.

His most recent album, Las que no Iban a Salir debuted #1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums, dethroning himself over his previous albums, with YHLQMDLG at #2 and X 100PRE at #3. Bad Bunny is one of the Latin artists with the most entries to the global Hot 100 list, with a total of 24 hits. In addition, with his album YHLQMDLG, he became the first Latino artist in history to achieve the position #2 on the global list Billboard 200. Each of Bad Bunny’s releases has left their forceful mark on the history of Latin music. His artistic power and leadership in the entertainment world demonstrate his character as one of the most impactful artists of the moment and reaffirm his expansive position in the music industry.

Bad Bunny returns in 2019 with another tour

Grammy-nominated Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny is ready for his second round tour and I bet his fans are more than ready. It's nearly a month he closed out his La Nueva Religión tour in the USA successfully and is hyped to kick off 2019 with another tour.

The month-long tour in the US, Bad Bunny Live, promoted by Cardenas Marketing Network (CMN), kicks off on March 14, 2019 at Santander Arena in Reading, PA and includes a return concert date at Orlando’s Amway Center Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Bad Bunny has become one of the biggest stars in recent Latin music history, despite not having ever released an album. His continuous stream of singles has produced 31 entries on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart since 2016 and most recently, his number one single, “Te Bote,” spent 11 weeks on the Billboard Latin chart alongside Casper Magico, Nio Garcia, Darell, Nicky Jam, and Ozuna. Additionally, the popularity of his first number one hit, “I Like It” with Cardi B and J Balvin, also garnered Bad Bunny significant crossover success during his first North American trek. The success of his La Nueva Religión tour catapulted the tour to number five on Billboard’s 2018 Hot Tours list.

Bad Bunny is most recognized for his explosive and infectious trap songs. His overwhelming talent, influence and demand has led to sold out shows throughout the USA, Latin America and Europe. His distinct voice and rhythm have contributed to him amassing a collection of collaborations with superstars including Drake (“MIA”); Marc Anthony and Will Smith (“Esta Rico”); Becky G (“Mayores”); Karol G and Quavo (“Ahora Me Llama”); Farruko, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott and Rvssian (“Krippy Kush”); and J. Romeo Santos conquista a la bahia de Tampa

Photos and videos not to be reproduced/used without consent
